Let’s talk about the fear of success and how to overcome your fear of success.
When I ask my followers about their fear, they tell me that they aren’t afraid of failure because they have failed and gotten back up.
Their fear is based on the actuality of pulling this new venture off and being successful.
As a result, they sabotage themselves.
Fear of Success Psychology
The fear of success gets in your way, not the fear of failure. Fear of success is when you are afraid of going bigger and succeeding. In my experience, I’ve seen clients, when we’re about to make a breakthrough, stop in their tracks because of their fear of success. However, you can break free of this fear, move forward, and level up your business!
Reason #1 Fear of Success Exists: People have a Fear of Judgment
When you start going bigger, you open yourself up to bigger audiences and expose your platform to a larger number of people.
In the fact that you are getting more exposure, you will also receive more criticism. It’s not necessarily the audience that they’re afraid of; it’s their friends and family. This is a point of personal healing that you need to take responsibility for in your life.
Reason #2 Fear of Success Exists: Fear of Visibility
Of course, when you get bigger, you have more eyeballs on your platform. And that’s a scary feeling. Some are afraid that something bad will happen to them when they reach a successful business point.
Reason #3 Fear of Success Exists: Fear of Success Psychology
Fear of success can rear its ugly head because you might be comfortable being small. You may not like it, but you’re comfortable because our brains do not like change – they want to stay in the same mindset. Growing bigger and becoming more successful is a significant change for your brain. You may need to rebuild your identity, and many people aren’t familiar with this process, so again, treading on the unknown is scary.
Reason #4 Fear of Success Exists: Fear of Success Motivation
Growth involves change, no matter if you’re growing in your personal or business aspects. Many clients I speak with are afraid of the changes they will have to make in their personal and business lives. For example, with me trying to build a seven-figure business, what changes will I have to make it myself to hit a seven-figure business?
Questions I and others ask themselves is: Do I want to show up that way? Do I want to change my business? Do I want to push myself out of my comfort zone? These are questions that come up for me, and I’m a hundred percent transparent when I tell you that.
Yes, I deal with this because I’m no different from you when facing these fears. When I’m about to make a huge breakthrough, I can feel the energetic change in my body. That’s when my skin starts to crawl (in a good way).
How to Conquer Your Fear of Success
We know we have this fear, so what do we do about it? Number one is to take action! Small steps work best, and for me, that looks like being disciplined with my commitments. I’m not perfect and get all my goals done every day. I do show up to the best of my ability every single day. And for me, that looks like consistently disciplined tasks that help me move forward.
Another way you can conquer your fear is to find mentorship. At this moment, I’m in David Nagle’s Elite Mind 90-Day Experience. He called out my fear of success as this was blocking my energy. Another way to find out your fear is to check out Fear of Success Tony Robbins, where he talks about how people let fear prevent them from moving forward.
I found my fear of success was rooted in my childhood. Every time I desired something or wanted to go bigger, my idea was shot down. As an adult, I must be conscious, not fearful with this pattern every time I want to go bigger. I get uncomfortable because I’m afraid I’m going to get shot down. Start identifying what in your past is creating your blocks and consciously making the decision to rethink your fear and make new, more positive decisions moving forward.
Start to practice expanding. As you practice expanding, you will have a different experience than other people, depending on where you’re at in life. Practice expanding to the best that you can right now and practice moving into that energy. When you do move into it, heal the thoughts and emotions that come up.
Fear of Success Affirmations
To change your energy into a more positive mindset, try daily affirmations. When you start moving forward and start to get to the point that you are uncomfortable, transmute the energy. I practice this process by choosing different thoughts and saying other affirmations. I will create claims such as ‘money is always there for me,’ ‘abundance is my birthright,’ ‘luxury is my birthright,’ ‘I am expanding to succeed, and I’m succeeding so I can help more people.’
Every time I get uncomfortable, I move my attention to the mindset that I am worthy of success, wants, and all the things that I desire, and that’s OK. Move your thoughts towards feeling and being OK with success and remove the fear from your everyday life.
